When Santa got stuck on the chimney…….
Tony reminded me this morning, of a few years ago when a huge Santa “blimp” balloon, got blown off the top of a shop in Coral Bay, flew over the villas in Coral Bay and the villas in Peyia, then on up to the hills and the village of Chloraka. It must have been an amazing sight for the children, looking out of their window to the skies and seeing a huge, happy faced Santa Claus flying past them. Magical!
In The Mill, in Coral Bay , Tony and the boys were discussing this yesterday. The Great Raymondodoulou didn’t believe the story, nor did the others- luckily, Alex the barber, who works next door to The Mill, overheard the conversation and interrupted the chatter to explain that HE had had to go and cut Santa down from a chimney in Chloraka and return him to his own rooftop in Coral Bay.
Alex, not only a barber, but also an employee of the Municipality of Peyia, had been given the job because he :
– is tall
– had a ladder
– has a friendly face……which mattered if the children got upset about someone stealing their Santa!
Suffice to say, the high winds these past few weeks have meant Santa Blimp is no longer on the original rooftop! Probably best because he needs to get his reindeer sorted and the sleigh packed – and get on his journey to the 25th!
