Preparation time…

Monday is Green Monday and the start of Lent in the Greek Orthodox calendar. Its a huge bank holiday here in Cyprus and is celebrated with Carnival processions, kite flying and picnics across the region. Its great fun. Vegetarian fayre is enjoyed and the families dance and sing the day away.

Course, its only Wednesday today but its ALMOST Monday so many of the workers/shops and offices are already closing down ready for the holiday….well, people have to prepare, decide what to wear, sort out picnics and buy kites: its important!

We shouldn’t be surprised: if a shop is closed for lunch 1-3pm, they close at 12.30 so the staff can get home for 1pm to start their lunch, then open again at 3.30pm , so the staff have the WHOLE lunchtime ,leaving home at 3pm!

Sadly, looking after the villas in Coral Bay and Peyia, such time keeping is not a luxury we enjoy – but its great fun to be around!!
