”Polishing” Peyia! The area is getting renovated!

Even the most beautiful of gems, benefit from a good, old polish now and again!
The area of Peyia is no different. Since the inception of a new Mayor, a couple of year ago, the area is benefitting massively from his passion and drive , to make this Municipality one of the best in the Med.

Many people don’t realise that the area of Coral Bay and Sea Caves, form part of Peyia. Whilst the village of Peyia itself, is known for it’s character, local charm and many wonderful local tavernas, the area of Peyia stretches far beyond this, emcompassing , for example, the stunning coastline along from Coral Bay to Sea Caves and up to the Akamas peninsular.

Our Mayor and his team have their work cut out but, keeping in the hearts the fact that generations of their own families have lived here and working with the locals, new locals and the many tourists, the Mayor has created a mission to regenerate /refresh and polish much of the Peyia area.

Already, within the village itself, we have the start of new pathways, well lit and very accessible for those of us who like to saunter , watching the area, rather than rush through in a car! We’ve got very attractive new bus stops, which offer shelter from the blistering sun and which have been sensitively designed to blend into the green , pretty landscape of the village.

Roads are being resurfaced, at little inconvenience to the drivers – in fact, the process is positively courteous! More street lighting is being installed – the whole area is looking great!

One of the things I’m most looking forward to , is that the coastal pathway which is a delight to walk, but stops just short of Coral Bay, is being extended up to Sea Caves, where the fishing port is being lit up and , ”featured” in all of it’s colourful glory. I cannot wait for this to be completed early in 2020!

In all, the area of Peyia is being lovingly cared for and developed to ensure it’s at it’s best for we locals and the visitors alike. I’ve always been proud to live here but there is a renewed sense of pride in every corner of the region now – and we’re all applauding work completed and that underway.

Come and visit Peyia. Whether you love the village or the coastline, the vibrance of Coral Bay or the history of Sea Caves, we’ve something for everyone – and excellent value holiday villas with clean pools or apartments in great locations, to rent to you! Email to Lynn@cyprusvillas.uk.com for further information – and I’ll keep you updated on progress in Peyia too!
