pink flamingos
We forget how beautiful this island is: today, we had to drive to Larnaca to talk to another villa holiday rental company who want to work with us. After the meeting, we strutted our stuff along the seafront, stopping for coffee and behaving like tourists, then drove back along the old airport road.
Just across from Larnaca Airport, is the largest salt lake in Europe. Famous for its residents, the pink flamingos, in all our years of coming here and living here, we’ve never quite timed it right to see them
Today, there were masses of them: beautiful, graceful, soft pink creatures, spread possessively across the whole of the lake. It was a beautiful site!
We also had to laugh because these huge birds obviously took preference over the smaller birds: the large gaggle (or whatever you call them!) of tiny ducks had been relegated to the “baby pool”. They didn’t look like they minded = but they looked funny huddled together in the cold water.
In every sense, we need to get out more!
