Oh to be a tourist, now Octobers here………
This has to be the most stunning time of the year here on Cyprus. The colours in the trees, fields and shrubs are stunning – and the sunsets are magnificent. Its hard to concentrate on what I’m doing coz I’m so busy looking around and marvelling at nature at its best.
This week, I’m surrounded by even more beauty: my totally gorgeous friend Mary is here with her daughters, Lauren and Eve – and Louise, Marys friend and now one of mine too, I hope, is with them , adding her 3 lovely children to the party – plus Nick, a friend of Louise’ son.
With Tony away training another pool course gang of enthusiasts, the “team” and I have been enjoying the best of local nightlife and food. Monday night, was spent in Kathikas at Arousas Taverna and last night, in Savvas Grill in Peyia, where most of us danced the night away or tried to set fire to the newspaper tail on the man pertaining to be a “dancing donkey”. Mary and I watched and laughed: everyone had a ball and I found myself watching the crowd relaxing and really getting into basic, fun, lovely Cyprus dance, music and food. I felt very proud to be there – and totally chuffed to be sat next to Mary and the gang.
I’m dipping out tonight as I’m on departures and arrivals today but I know wherever Mary and Louise take their children, they’ll be welcomed, smiled at, entertained and well fed in great surroundings.
There are many worse places to be at this time of year – but I cannot think of a better one, especially surrounded by such special people
