Mothers Day

Its Mothers Day today and, although the Cypriots don’t celebrate this day in the same way we do, the ex pat mothers living here will be ready to be “honoured” and cared for by their offspring.

I’m not given to emotional marketing tricks but its the last Sunday before Mum and Jim go home, so it will be good to spend some time with them. Its been an awful long goodbye but the hardest time will be Sunday 29th….

Alfie, Molly, Jake and Charlie are to have their pocket money stopped. There wasn’t a card or flower in sight for me this morning- though Jake did jump into bed as soon as Tony got up, then proceeded to cuddle and doggy snog me until I could stand it no more and got up – so he let Charlie and Molly back on the bed with him !

We are going to try to ring Tonys Mum now, my “other mother”: she is in UK and is never at home when we ring but won’t have an ansaphone so doesn’t know that we try – just believes we dont! Perhaps its a mother thing to layer the guilt?!

I wanted to wish mothers everywhere a very happy Mothers Day and pray they are touched by love and kindness. My thoughts are also with Jade Goodys family: Jade died this morning and her family must be devastated but should be very proud of her courage and spirit. I imagine her sitting on a large, specially made and lit piece of heaven now, smiling down at her family and friends and showering them with giggles and love…..bless her.
