It’s all Grrreeeeek to me!
Having studied the beautiful language of Greek, for over 4 years, I’m still stumped by many of the ‘sounds’ and the use of grammar. In fact , so much so , that I’ve taken a couple of years out of study/exams, to let the words ‘settle” into my brain – then I’ll pick up again in ”future perfect” style.
Mind you, I don’t know why I’ve bothered! Emma, our gorgeous villa /office angel, seems to have it covered – or should that be , “‘coverrrrrrreeeed”. Seems all you have to do, when attempting to speak the language of the Cypriot friend stood in front of you is, roll your rrrrrrrrrrr’s, adding as many as you can for effect, (Try ”rrrrrrrrrrrain”), or extend the whole world, complete with rolled ‘r’s” and add flailing arms for effect. If you can talk e-x-t-r-a s-l-o-w-l-y, the effect is even better!
Seems all the pain of study, may have been unnecessary! I’m going to try Emma’s apprrrrrrrrooooachhhhh and see where it gets me! As she’s now on the PTA, at the local Cypriot school, Charlie and Daisy attend, she is doing something right!
