I need a mechanic…..
Andreas, who lives on the hillside close to us, climbs up the hill in the late afternoon sun here in Peyia, bringing his goat herd with him. Its very pleasant sitting listening to the goat bells as the animals “tinkle” their way over the rocks.
As well as being a part time goat herder, Andreas is also a mechanic and works for a large dealership in Paphos. We recently asked him if he’d take our truck in for a service and he was delighted to help. We needed to organise the collection etc and Andreas’ english is only slightly better than my command of Greek, so his daughter came with him to our home to translate for us all.
We reached the conclusion that we simply needed to leave the keys in the truck for Andreas to collect at 7am one morning and that he’d drive the truck in to Paphos and return it that night.
Perfect.
His daughter advised us that her father would collect the truck, “yesterday” and bring it back the day after ……..
We left the keys in daily from then – and it was duly collected and returned – on Wednesday.
Easy mistake (as the Dalik said climbing off the dustbin – Tonys favourite joke!).
Happy driving!
