Gus, my hero cat!
How happy are we? Late last night, having paced the roads for hours looking and shouting for Charlie Cat, Gus, our next door neighbours cat, came to “talk to me”. I explained to him how worried I was about Charlie and asked his help to find him.
In the dismissive manner only a cat has, Gus strolled off, flicking his tail and didn’t give me a backward glance. Taking a phone call a few minutes later, I heard two cats mewing. Not really daring to get my hopes up, I tried to concentrate on the call but an indignant Gus pushed himself against my leg and told me off very loudly – so I looked – and there was Charlie.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a long haired ginger and white cat in my life! I havent been able to stop cuddling him and I’ve apologised to Charlie for telling him a lie: what was the lie? Well, when Charlie was given to us approx 2 years ago, I told him he could stay and I’d feed him but I wouldn’t be getting emotionally attached to him – and that couldn’t be further from the truth. We both adore this little cat: he’s cute, got attitude – and is obviously very fond of us too…..
Why else would you return to the home of the monster dog who chased you away in the first place? But thank god he did.
And thank you , Gus, for helping!
