From village to Big City!
Tony and I have spent the past two days on business in Nicosia. The meetings were very interesting: I’m always amazed by the grace and warmth shown to us by “powerful” people who lead the tourist industry here and thank them for their time.
I was also taken aback by the friendliness and kindness shown to us by the local shopkeepers too: when we told them where we lived, they wanted to share coffee with us and talk about Peyia. Each loved our village and had a story to tell – All wanted to come home with us yesterday!
From the beautiful Casa Vieja restaurant where we spent Thursday night, to the lady who owned the “bath salts” shop, the owners were wonderful, full of colourful Peyia stories and had huge hearts. We didn’t pay for dinner (thank you Louis) nor could we pay full price for anything….
The Cypriots look after “their own” – and as soon as we said we were locals from Peyia and spent our lives encouraging tourists to come to Peyia and Coral Bay, the locals couldn’t do enough for us. We felt like “family” – and also felt very proud to live on this gorgeous island.
The holidaymakers arriving in our villas and apartments in Coral Bay and Peyia this weekend, are incredibly lucky! And thats not bias: its total fact! Ask anyone in Nicosia!
