For David …

We’ve just had some very sad news. David, a neighbour and friend of Mum and Jims (the wrinklies), here in Peyia, passed away this morning after a very long and difficult illness. His wife Valerie, has been at his side throughout, urging him on and loving him for all she is worth…..

Today, Valerie was to fly David home to UK but it would seem he didn’t want that and instead, decided to go to his rest here in Cyprus before he and she had to take the journey…..

Our hearts and love are with Valerie today: she’s been so strong and loving throughout all of the years in which David has been ill. He has returned that love with courage and great humour but has suffered terribly – as has Valerie watching the man she loves being so strong through a very bad illness ………

I believe, without question, that we go on to better things but I also know that the strength and courage it takes to stay here and live with the loss, is unimaginable. Valerie deserves so much love and support now; peace and kindness for her too and I pray the many, many people she’s reached out to, will be there for her now.

I can sense David smiling his cheeky smile as I write – I pray that smile beams into Valeries heart and warms her tonight…. The Wrinklies will be raising a few glasses and shedding tears in Davids memory too, joining Valerie and their family and all of us who had the pleasure to know and spar with him!
