Andreas, the watch maker
In Paphos Old Market, yesterday, we met Andreas, the watch maker whose stall is located just at the top entrance, near the colourful leather bags and belts.
Andreas has been in the market for 52 years. He is a gentle and lovely character. Andy, our friend, wanted to buy a watch so we stopped at the stall and got chatting to Andreas. Soon, we were transposed from Paphos to Ancient Greece, hearing stories of angels and the beautiful language the Ancient Greeks gifted to the world. Watches became irrelevant but English words , like knowledge, were dissected and explained in Andreas own style and manner
We were enchanted. Andreas offered to let me sit in his stall all day and learn more about language. I couldn’t yesterday but I will go back and share some precious time with this lovely learned gentleman. Walking into the shop was like stepping back in time and dancing with the gods and goddesses.
I hate shopping – but I love the experience of the Old Market and the people who bring it to life.
Come and meet them!
