anchor a’way
Well, we’ve had another lovely day out on the high seas, sharing a boat with Susie F and The Great Raymondodoulou. The weather was perfect; the waters calm and the company, excellent – couldn’t ask for more.
Taking in the stunning coastline from Latchi marina to the edge of the Akamas, we chose a tiny bay , empty of all other craft to stop and enjoy our boating treats: pink bubbly and pork pies!
It was all going well till we quite literally, took the command ‘anchor away’ too seriously and , erm , threw the anchor over the side without securing it to the cleet on the boat – so it disappeared. Permanently. And we couldn’t moor close to the spot to try to find it. Coz we had no anchor ………….
Luckily , all other seafaring phrases seemed to make sense and not be taken too literally. I was a little worried about tying the knots and using the ropes generally, in case Susie F thought it was a variation on the fifty shades theme but all went swimmingly………..especially for Tony, who courageously spent a good half hour snorkelling trying to find the anchor……..
We’ll learn – albeit the hard way!
