A Very Happy Easter!
Its Easter Sunday here in Cyprus today and what a beautiful day its been. We’ve actually enjoyed the full Easter weekend so far, with Andy and Els arriving Thursday night to stay with us. Friday was spent in the Troodos, doing our “usual” tour of Platres (for apple pie and ice cream), then Troodos (for hot nuts – and snow!) then on to Kakopetria, to The Mill for Buttered Trout! Perfect!
Last night, we celebrated Easter with our normal Easter Bash, serving sausage and bacon butties sloshed down with too much vino – then did it all over again for brunch , with a few stalwarts from the party the night before! The sun has shone all day and we’ve all slept off the excesses, ready to start again.
Cyprus is a wonderful place to be at Easter. The village of Peyia is dressed for the occasion and everyone, no matter what age, joins in the fun. From gathering the wood for the Easter bonfire at the Church to wishing everyone, stranger and friend, Kalo Paska.
I cannot think of anywhere I’d rather be at this moment – and that is a great feeling!
Special thanks to Bob and Caroline who came up to see us and enjoy the night! Really appreciated you giving up your last night on holiday to come and share in the fun with us! See you in August!
