A special man who loved Cyprus
Today is a difficult day and a very proud day in equal measures. Our wonderful stepfather, Jim, who has been one of the mainstays of our family for over 35 years, passed away peacefully just after lunchtime
I’m supposed to blog about happy things/great holidays and love of sea – and right now, I cannot think of anyone who represents these more, than Jim. He was the most wonderful , dignified and loving man who loved to travel , loved the sea, loved his extended family (though not as much as he loved his son Nigel and daughter Geraldine) and loved Cyprus. It was a fine sunny day when Jim (James Swanston) married my Mum so many years ago – but I noted today that, when I took the call to say Jim had passed peacefully after such a long illness, the winds got up to help fill his sails as he headed to heaven.
My Mum and Jim lived here in Peyia, for over 6 years . They loved the area, the people, the wine bars, supermarket shopping – and Jamesy and I loved walking our dogs down by the seafront at Coral Bay.
I appreciate this is a personal blog but what the time Jim and Mum lived here, showed to me, was what lovely people there are here – and how much life can be enjoyed near the sea in a ‘back to basics away’….
Thank you for reading this blog. Thoughts are living things and no words can describe to you how special, unique and quiet this great man, who was our step father and husband to my mum, was – but he didn’t do words: he loved the sea, the winds in the heavens and being with our dogs when we walked the coastline.
Tonight, the angels will sail him home, with the warm loving winds that guide them and we’ll all watch the stars , sending Jim our love for his voyage and our tears on the sea for our loss x
