Charlotte, aged 5 years and 6 months, has been happily holidaying in the Coral Bay area of Cyprus for all of her life – well, that's what she tells people, though we also know she's sneaked off to Bali whilst in Mum's tummy but returned to Cyprus as soon as she had the chance to do so (and a say in the matter!).
From the early months when Lottie simply sat back and let the grown ups take the strain of choice of what to do and where to go in the area, she has taken notice of the best things for her and her friends – and by, she lets us know what she wants to do!
Charlotte's perfect Cyprus day would include:
Starting the morning terrorising the grown ups in the pool, squirting them with water from her blow up jet ski!
Having a mid-morning snooze and taking in the gentle breezes on the hillside "owned" by her god-parents or on her choice of Coral Bay beaches where watersports are in abundance.
Lunch poolside – lots of sweet things;discussions about karaoke that evening – and practising her Greek dancing (participation obligatory). Preparation for the traditional Greek nights held at local tavernas throughout the summer months.
The afternoon would be spent in either the Donkey "factory" (sanctuary) on the Kathikas hillside for ice cream and a chat with the inhabitants -- or a visit to the Bird Park -- or perhaps Go-karting followed by a stroll with her god-parents' dogs along the pretty coastline of Sea Caves.
Quick snooze again by the pool before swimming-and-singing lessons combined then a (reluctant) shower with an enthusiastic rush to Coral Bay to choose somewhere to eat (pizza or chicken nuggets or pizza or chicken nuggets;) Play at the Amusement Arcade then karaoke at one of the many child friendly bars – Blazing Saddles being a particular favourite. What does she sing? Anything VERY loud – especially Amarillo!
Then to sleep – suddenly, heavily and always in the most inconvenient place -- but who cares when you're five and having a blast in Cyprus?
